The Washington-area was a major hub during the Golden Era of country music from the 1930’s through the 1950’s, and Odell Roy “Speedy” Tolliver is a living link to this oft-forgotten legacy. As the winner at one of the legendary White Top Folk Festivals back in the 1930’s, Speedy’s talent was once widely-known beyond the musicians and scholarly circles that revere him to this day.
